Can you Mélange?
Making friends & building community in NYC is challenging, but it really doesn't have to be. New Yorkers need to relax. Mélange Internationale celebrates the New York City lifestyle by bringing folks together who are interested in meeting people of all ethnicities.

We provide the activities, food and atmosphere then let nature take its course. The New York City lifestyle can be a wonderful blessing if you are part of a positive community. Mélange recommends open social gatherings for couples and hosts Eye Gazing parties for singles, to provide an atmosphere to network, share relationship advice and make new friends. The process of forming these communities of multi-ethnic and international  New Yorkers is our main goal.

What happens at a social gathering?
Folks meet in an organic way. Socializing, sharing good food, and participating in activities. Listed below are the different types of social gatherings Mélange Internationale hosts.

How do I register for social gatherings?
Click on the GATHERINGS SCHEDULE to see a list of scheduled social gatherings. If you have questions please email info@melangeinternationale.com or call 212-501-3691.

What's up with the catering?

Jeanine is a personal chef and event planner.  She teaches private and public cooking lessons, and does Personal Kitchen Coaching and Pantry Planning for people who feel lost in the kitchen.  Click on our Personal Chef & Catering page for details.

What does Mélange Mean?
Mélange means "a medley".

We don't believe in the "melting pot" theory. In cooking, for example, it's the unique individual flavors and spices coming together that makes an amazing dish. The ingredients don't melt into one another; they maintain their originality and create something delicious.

That's what happens at MélangeInternationale's social gatherings. Only, the ingredients are the wonderful people with their unique flavors who come together to have fun.

How Do I know if it's a Gay or Lesbian Eye Gazing Party?
All Gay Male Gatherings and Lesbian Eye Gazing Parties will have this rainbow symbol of our logo by the title of the social gathering. The title of the social gathering will be specifically labeled "Gay Male Gaze" and "Lesbian Gaze".

All social networking salons are open to everyone regardless of sexual orientation.

Do you cancel gatherings?
The short answer is no. Our founder is a professional actor and her philosophy is...the show must go on!!! It would take a catastrophic event at the venue, or an act of God for Mélange for us to cancel a social gathering.

What sets Mélange apart from other singles/networking groups?
Jeanine. She founded Mélange as homage to her Auntie Titta who was an amazing woman. Auntie Titta opened her home and helped so many single people find love, and forge lifelong friendships. Perhaps intentionally, perhaps not...but the amazing food, vibrant personalities, hospitality, games, jokes and stories entertained the guests, made everyone feel at home and brought people together.

Code of Conduct (a message from our Founder Jeanine)
The folks who attend Mélange Internationale social gatherings are seeking a NYC oasis, a place to feel comfortable, play games and meet friends. My Auntie Titta was a giving person who opened her home to many. She expected her guests to behave! I do too. Years ago, I worked in theater for young audiences. I learned the "I Care Cat Rules" at an elementary school where I was performing. I'm adopting the "I Care Cat Rules" as my rules of conduct.

They are:

1. We listen to each other.
2. Hands are for helping and not for hurting. (or harassing)
3. We use I-Care language.
4. We care about each other's feelings.
5. We are responsible for what we say and do.
6. Always tip the bartender, and do not play for money,  No GAMING ALLOWED!! (okay, I added this one)

Play by these rules and we will all have a great time.

Can I volunteer?
Yes.

Attend social gatherings at no cost (and receive comps to various NYC downtown theater plays, feature films, and events)in exchange for coming 20 minutes early to help set up or staying 15 minutes later to help clean up. Only 1 volunteer per Social Gathering is needed.
